John Vanderslice offers new tune from "Romanian Names"

Most any John Vanderslice news is good news, but this time it's especially exciting. Vanderslice has prepared a new record, entitled Romanian Names, which will be released on May 19th, a follow-up to his excellent 2007 album, Emerald City. The demos of the majority of the songs were recorded in John's basement as opposed to his famed Tiny Phonebooth studio in San Fransisco. The process of selecting and producing the tunes was, apparently, careful and time-consuming, resulting in a coherently constructed record.

You can download a cut from the album, "Fetal Horses," below. The acoustic guitar and layers of keyboards under John's signature vocals result in a song that easily holds up against his previous work. You can also check out his MySpace page where you can get a better introduction to his music if you haven't had the pleasure already.
